The primary design objectives in this remodel was to add more storage space for two active cooks.  The original kitchen felt very small and there wasn’t enough room for a breakfast nook or an island.  Capitol designer Michaela’s solution was to redesign the kitchen with maximized function and storage while using light colors, traditional details, and clean lines.

“There are always surprises when you remodel or build. But the thing that probably surprised us most is that the new kitchen doesn’t look or feel like a remodel. It flows so well with the rest of the house, both inside and outside, that it seems like it was meant to be this way.”  – Anna, client.

“It’s very rewarding to help my clients create the perfect plan, see it all come together and then experience the joy of seeing my clients reaction once the job is completed”     – Michaela

Designer Feature:  The pantry cabinet is the ultimate in pantry organization and storage, keeping must-have items easily accessible.

Storing food in a kitchen is often an overlooked detail that is important to effective kitchen design. It is great to have all dishes and cutlery neatly organized in cabinets and drawers, but the storage or dried goods, canned goods, spices, and condiments are fundamental to the purpose of a kitchen: cooking. To increase storage space in this kitchen, Michaela added this 27″ depth cabinet with rollouts and shelves.

Michaels advice for your kitchen remodel:

Don’t rush through the planning stage! Take the time to thoroughly think through your requirements and communicate those to your designer.  Start by downloading our planning guide.

Sites like Pinterest or Houzz are great places to gather ideas into a virtual design board and can also be a great tool to communicate with any professionals that you might need to hire.

And finally, try not to stress too much. Not everything will go as planned and sometimes that’s a good thing
